Create my profile now!Scrappy is a beautiful well-built horse with a lot of potential for dressage and/or show jumping. He last raced in August 2023 and has been correctly retrained since November 2023.
He has 3 nice gaits, schools prelim level with a few weeks of introduction to lateral movements (leg yield/shoulder in). He also has a nice rein back. We have jumped many gridwork exercises and courses up to 85cm showing a really nice technique over the fences.
He has room for higher with more experience. Hacks alone or in company and has been ridden in open fields. He is now at the point that he just needs to gain more experience and reinforce everything he has been taught.
Scrappy is so easy to do from the ground, very polite and quiet, no vices and good for farrier, dentist, vet, transport, etc. He is up to date with everything (feet, dentist, jabs, wormer, physio & chiro). He is currently barefoot with probably the best TB feet I have never seen and lives 24/7 out with a mixed herd but doesn’t mind staying in a stable at night.
He would suit a rider that prefers putting the leg on as he can be a kick ride on the flat, but once you find the go button, he has a nice comfortable push coming from behind. He does wake up when you jump him and can get a bit sharp on his feet if there is too much pulling and kicking at the same time and can sometimes throw a small buck after a big effort or if touching/knocking a pole down (never in a nasty way of trying to get the rider off)! He really doesn’t like making mistakes over the jumps which I think is a great quality to have in a competition horse, but you need to be comfortable with the possibility of him doing this!
He is not a kick along ride, he is not always the bravest horse and does take his confidence from his rider. However, once you get him in confidence, he always tried his hardest and will keep going until you ask him to stop.
The only reason for selling is he was supposed to be an addition to our Horseball team, but as this involves a lot of stop/go and turning fast, he is not a fan of it, and we thought it was unfair on him to keep pushing for something he clearly didn’t like. Our lost is your gain!
He is currently ridden 4-5 times a week and going out to arena hire when we can!
