We would be happy to see him in a home where there is no expectation of riding, and/or with experienced horseperson who is interested in building a positive relationship with him long term.
Sensible offers considered. Good home more important than price.
I will be completely up front and honest about him.
We have enjoyed him for three years; my teenage daughter is no longer interested in riding. She’s learned loads from him – she tried showing and pony club activities. He is much loved. However, he is reactive to the bit; this is a long-term issue.
In the last few months, I have been enjoying doing hacking, light schooling, and groundwork with Charlie. He responds quickly to positive training and has transitioned well to be ridden bitless or with minimal contact on a snaffle. He is happy hacking out alone with light contact but can get keen if he thinks a canter opportunity is coming. If he is going to be ridden, he needs an experienced, sympathetic rider with light hands who can ride from their seat.
Unfortunately, I simply do not have the resources (time and money) to maintain him any longer.
